Report by 4:30 PM at Safdarjung Railway Station for a traditional welcome and check-in formalities for the Week in Wonderland train tour. Enjoy a photo opportunity with the Palace on Wheels staff dressed in traditional attire. You will be escorted to your saloon cabins by your personal attendant, who will brief you on cabin facilities. At leisure, proceed to the Bar Lounge for a complimentary welcome drink. The train departs at 6:30 PM, followed by dinner onboard.
Arrive at Jaipur Railway Station, greeted with a royal welcome by elephants. Begin your day with a visit to the Albert Hall Museum, followed by a photo stop at the iconic Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) and the Birla Hindu Temple.
Proceed to the magnificent Amber Fort, where you will enjoy a traditional elephant ride up the fort’s ramparts. Explore this 16th-century architectural marvel that beautifully blends Rajput and Mughal styles. After lunch at the Raj Palace Hotel, visit the City Palace, the Museum, and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Jantar Mantar (Sun Observatory). Later, enjoy some free time for shopping before returning to the Palace on Wheels by 6:30 PM. The train departs shortly after dinner onboard.
Depart early morning at 6:30 AM from Sawai Madhopur Railway Station for a jungle safari in 15-seater canters through Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. The reserve is home to tigers, panthers, sloth bears, pythons, marsh crocodiles, deer, and numerous bird species. Return to the train by 9:30 AM for breakfast and departure.
Arrive at Chittorgarh Railway Station by 4:00 PM and proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Chittorgarh Fort. Set atop a vast plateau, this 11th-century fort is India’s largest, steeped in history and grandeur. In the evening, enjoy the spectacular Sound & Light show within the fort complex. Return to the train for dinner as it departs post-midnight
Arrive at Udaipur by 8:00 AM. After breakfast onboard, visit the sprawling 17th-century City Palace complex, featuring eleven palaces adorned with balconies, towers, and cupolas. Explore the Crystal Gallery, housing the personal collection of the Maharana of Udaipur. Enjoy a scenic boat ride on Lake Pichola to the stunning Lake Palace Hotel. After lunch at Fatehprakash Palace Hotel, visit the Royal Gardens at Saheliyon Ki Bari and enjoy some free time for shopping. Return to the train by 3:00 PM and depart. Dinner is served onboard.
After breakfast, head to the UNESCO World Heritage Jaisalmer Fort, a living fort rising 100 meters above the town, glowing golden in the sunlight. Wander through its 15th-century complex, visit the intricately carved Patwon ki Haveli mansion, and the nearby Jain Temples with their ancient manuscripts. Return to the train for lunch and a brief rest. At 4:30 PM, venture to the Sam Sand Dunes in the Thar Desert for a camel ride and sunset photo opportunity. Enjoy a cultural program and dinner at a 5-star hotel before returning to the train by 10:00 PM. The train then departs.
Arrive at Jodhpur at 8:00 AM. After breakfast, tour the imposing 16th-century Mehrangarh Fort, perched 125 meters above the city. Explore its grand palatial apartments, wide courtyards, and a museum showcasing royal costumes and medieval weaponry. Visit Jaswant Thada, a cluster of royal cenotaphs crafted in white marble, and the museum at Umaid Bhawan Palace displaying the Maharaja’s personal artifacts. After lunch at Ajit Bhawan Palace Hotel, return to the Palace on Wheels by 3:30 PM. The train departs soon after.
At 6:30 AM, visit the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, where you can enjoy a cycle rickshaw ride among over 375 species of local and migratory birds. Return to the train for breakfast and departure at 8:45 AM.
By 10:30 AM, arrive on the outskirts of Agra and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Agra Fort, the historic seat of the Mughal Empire. After lunch at the Trident Hotel, visit the magnificent Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Enjoy some free time for shopping before returning to the train for dinner. The train arrives at Safdarjung Railway Station, New Delhi, by 5:30 AM. After an early breakfast, check out by 7:15 AM.
This tour has an age range of 12-70 years old, this means children under the age of 12 will not be eligible to participate in this tour. However, if you are over 70 years please contact us as you may be eligible to join the tour if you fill out G Adventures self-assessment form.
